Strike. Strike. Strike.

(Part 2 has been added below)

Not good.

Today there is (yet another) public transportation strike. Fortunately their website shows what percentages of the buses, tramways, and metros are running so you can figure out how to débrouiller yourself. (That's your Frenglish lesson for the day.) Because only minimal transportation is available, many people choose to drive cars they normally leave at home, which means the streets are gridlocked.

I went to check the operating status of the three possible bus routes Jonathan might take home.
Bus 10: 14 percent. Strike 1.
Bus 14: 0 percent. Strike 2
Bus 88: 0 percent. Strike 3.

Three strikes, and he's out of luck. He'll be walking home.

The five-kilometer route home

Part 2: I decided that since my afternoon was fairly free I'd go meet Jonathan at school, giving myself two hours to get there on whatever bus came my way. I waited, waited, waited, waited, and no bus. I read chapters of my book. Old ladies with canes abandoned hope and opted to walk. So I finally gave up and walked home...where I made Sauce caramel! That'll perk up your day.

Hope the walk home goes/went okay. Is that going to create a problem for getting to school on time??

Love you guys, K & C

Hey you guys, when there's a strike and you're stuck, don't hesitate to call us and we can see if we can give you a ride!!!! We're not that far from you, and chances are, Alex is stuck too, so we can work out the rides for both of you. Today Alex waited and waited for the bus too, finally gave up and worked at home.

Yikes! Hope they resolve the strike sooner rather than later.

I think I'll tell this story to Jason (my little brother) - he is living in Tucker & just got a new job in Alpharetta and has been bemoaning the traffic. :-P
