Three down, two to go!

Jonathan started back to school this week, joining the 12 million other students in France. Monday was a serious jump back into the routine with a whopping 10 hours of class, en francais bien sur. We did get some good school-related news this weekend that made the transition back a bit easier.

Good news 1
I'll jump over the details and give you the bottom line: Jonathan's degree will be finished in two more years, not three!! So we are officially 3/5 through - which it soooo much more than half, right? (And this osteopathic degree will wind up costing significantly less.) Woohoo! Needless to say, Jonathan was pretty jazzed.

Good news 2
The other good news is that he began clinic observations this week, about a semester earlier than expected, which means that much more exposure to the language and practice. In February he'll take his "boards" that will certify him to actually work in the clinic on patients, not just other students - and me. (That $30 lab coat will get many, many hours of wear this year.) Also this year he'll decide on a topic for massive thesis paper he'll write over the next year. The school calls it a memoire, which sounds incredibly impressive, don't you think? He's still narrowing down a topic, so feel free to toss in your suggestions. (Yes, Mom. We know yours :)

Little bad news
With Jonathan back in school, I'm back on house-wife duty. Well, part-time at least. I get spoiled in the summmers when Jonathan is a house-husband. He does all the dishes, laundry (even folding), market runs and other errands. Ah, the good ol'days... ;)

I can't wait to see pictures of Jonathan in his lab coat!! (Glenn says he will look like Saalam or Douda (at the clinic in Sindou). Can we get him a rubber stamp for Christmas so he can tamponner everything????

Let me know what he decides to do for his thesis. You know, if he chooses the one I suggested, he could make millions!

How exciting! He still amazes me with the fact that it's all in French!

funny...as soon as i read dear cile's comment, i knew someone would wonder what in the world tamponner is...i'll answer. it's "to stamp"...as opposed to anything else it could mean.

Thanks, Peggy for the clarification. I'm relieved to know its definition has nothing to do with feminine products. But now I'm wondering what Cile's thesis suggestion is for my son. We're very excited that to hear of the school's announcement that this will be a 5 yr program vs a 6 yr one. Will be doing (continuing) some heavy duty praying for Trey this school year...having to work on his thesis in addition to regular school...also for Kari as she now has to do all the dishes ;o) Wonder who will be helping with the editing of Trey's paper??? You have your work cut out for you, Kari.
Love you both!
