J: You know, if we had a vacuuming machine for this rug...
Kari interrupts snickering
J:...a vacuumer?
Kari still snickering
J: A vacuum! That's what it's called!
Ah, the joys of using multiple languages in your day-to-day. Being multilingual may mean that you can speak more languages, but it also means you're likely to lose key parts of your native language!
And this, ladies and gentlemen, is the story of our life.

A cross-stitch Kendra made for me and flowers to plant in the garden from our neighbors, Emilie and Celine
In a story completely unrelated to vacuuming... thank you for the birthday wishes! I had un grande latte in a comfy chair at Starbucks. I had two pieces of caramel-covered chocolate cake (thanks, Stauffers!) I read a beautiful letter. I wore a beautiful necklace from Macedonia. And I'm going to get a hot stone massage.
Who knew being 28 was so much fun? ;)

FYI...Kevin is our vaccuumer ;o)
The flowers are beautiful and so is the cross stitch.
Is it worrisome that the "loss of words" happens to those of us who only speak ONE language??
The cross stitch is SO beautiful!!
and of course the flowers too! :)
Ahhhhh, the cross stitch is enhanced standing beside the flowers. Perfect! I noticed your necklace yesterday--it's beautiful!
Hooray for birthdays!!
Congrats, Kari... way to be born!
It sounds like you had a great b-day and thoughtful people around you to make it special.
I can relate with losing vocabulary with normal words :)

I do that a LOT! Sometimes, I forgot the english equivalent of the french word. The other day in class, we were all looking for the english equivalent of le stage but none of us- and I mean NONE!- was able to remember it! We resigned ourselves to the fact that we were becoming more francais than anglais (finalement!) and kept using stage till one of us finally remembered :)
FLOWERS! Oh, prettiness :) Glad to hear you had a good day!

Sounds like a great birthday! And the flowers and cross-stitch are beautiful :)
That happened to me the other day, too! Except I don't know much French, so do I really have that excuse. :) I forgot the english equivalent of chorizo, when I was talking to a friend about pizza. Sure, pepperoni isn't the exact same thing, but it's as close as you can get, right? (Chorizo > Pepperoni)
