Bring it on, Popeye...

I have been told by people who garden that starting this early in the season is pointless very ambitious. And I'm beginning to think they may be right, seeing as every time we get a few sunny days it seems the grandgarden has a serious growth spurt.

Nonetheless, we're thoroughly enjoying this little project and I think my nails have never looked better than when they're covered in soil. (Betcha' Revlon never thought of that color choice.) I actually got a little peeved when it rained for three days straight because it meant I didn't get to go water the plants and check on them.

We had our first harvest the other evening. Spinach and mint for salads. Yum!

I don't love mint, but the strawberries and spinach look delicious. What kind of dressing did you use?

Are you so attached to your garden now that it's weird to eat it? I was wondering about that.

Glad to see your grandgarden has decided to grow :)

Rain is much better water for your garden than tap water, anyway. I see you put walnuts on your salad. They're very healthy...have omega 3 in them. Your spinach looks fabulous! Lots of vitamins in those greens. Way to go, guys!

Way to go. This is the exciting part of gardening--eating the harvest! We plant our garden tomorrow. The last two days we have been preparing the ground, tomorrow the plants and seeds are going into the ground. Squash, cucumbers, tomatoes, sweet peppers, okra and greenbeans. I can't wait to have that first tomato sandwich! It's a southern thing. :-)

I planted "balcony tomatoes" last weekend. I wondered what made them balcony tomatoes, until I looked closely at the picture and realized they were actually cherry tomatoes, and I guess they are called balcony tomatoes because most people here live in an apartment and have to plant them in a big pot on their balcony. I hope they turn out as good as your spinach!

I love your enthusiasm...but a spinach and mint salad combines 2 of the worst things I can imagine eating. So you can have my share. :)
