Le telecommuting...

I'm thinking of changing the tag line for this blog to 'C'est la vie... a walking update due to massive public transportation strikes.'

Today marks the start of Week 2 in a city-wide strike which has resulted in lots of angry people walking to their destinations. (Self and self's husband included.) Last week I had to walk across town twice and scored some lovely blisters. This morning I opted for the telecommute, which sounds all great if you focus on the PJs, couch and never ending coffee pot. But the reality is that I have two magazines to get printer-ready by Friday and this is not good timing for me to be stuck at home couch-commuting. But as they say, C'est la vie!

See the loooong list of numbers? Those are the buses not running. At all.

An article on the strikes in Le Progrès.

The strikers have threatened to keep on not doing their jobs for up to 99 days if demands are not met. 92 days from now means early January. Are you kidding me, TCL? My couch cannot take that kind of wear.

The home office - where every day is casual Friday.

Oh my God, this is really bad. I hope it ends soon.

On a completely different note, I just saw that you've read The White Tiger! What did you think of it? Would you recommend it? I haven't read it, coz I didn't know if it was all hype, or whether it was actually good...

With that Friday deadline I could imagine that working from home isn't as peaceful as usual. Praying that you get a lot done!!

Love,

Love the new tagline for the blog.

What does "Les perturbations" mean? I mean, I have an idea it means something like "Things that perturb people" but want to know for sure. I love the whole take an English sounding phrase and make it sound French philosophy.

Wow! That's gotta be frustrating. I don't suppose Jonathan has the option to "couch-commute"?
Hope it ends soon!

I wish I could telecommute. Good luck getting everything done, but I know you will, 'cause you're good like that :)

I absolutely cannot imagine if there was no public transportation in New York. Yikes.

Vive la France et vive la république et surtout VIVE LE SOCIALISME. Voilà la mentalité des Français tu leur donne le pouce et ils veulent le bras. Des vrais enfants pourrits gatés. Beurk je déteste cette mentalité.

As a new resident to lyon, the pleasure of been on a bus battered by eggs and potatoes was not a french dream to put it mildly. Anway thanks to Meg the student from california, who educated me on couch surfing, hitch hiking around Europe etc in the middle of all this.

Best of luck with the deadlines.
