This past week and weekend have been a bit rough, so I've decided to focus on the better aspects. The best of things, actually.
Best Monday morning Facebook post:

Best Saturday discovery:
You can make good Southern-style gravy using chipolata sausages

Best weekend read:
The Outcast, by Sadie Jones

Best pre-dinner dialogue:

Best sound:
The clicking of the boules on the court outside our living room

Best banana bread:
Britt's recipe, made by Jonathan

K: Why? Did you put in what I told you to?

I LOVE this! If you don't mind, I might have to steal this idea sometime!!
Sorry your week hasn't been so great!
I feel so famous :)
This weekend was a special one - so I have LOTS of weekend bests:
Best picture to treasure: tie between my brother and his wife being wonderful parents to our nephew.... and Chris rocking him to sleep.
Best smell - clean baby smell that I got to enjoy while cuddling with my nephew.
Best sound - my family (husband, mom, grandma, brother, sister-in-law, nephew, uncle) talking and laughing around the table.
Best relaxing moment - curled up on the couch with Chris in front of a cozy fire (we're house-sitting!)
Like I said...very special weekend. I'm sorry you had a rough week - I pray that your heart is encouraged this new week.
Love you,
Kate
oh wow, the pre-dinner dialogue made me laugh out loud! so stinking hilarious!
probably watching renae pick her knows while praying at church, and hearing her proudly say, "you're stinky uncle trey!" on skype. love it.
Buying a bunch raw mangoes that were probably rotten from a small boy who was selling them on the street, just because he was looking so miserable about not being able to sell them.
And I agree with Jill, this is a FANTASTIC idea!

Best friends who I haven't seen in 7 months coming to Alabama to see us.
-The hot, long shower I had at a friend's apartment (you know why).
-Impromptu soiree we had when the parents of the kids we were watching came to pick them up. We had great cheeses and awesome bread from the market that morning and a bottle of very refreshing Beaujolais.
I'm sorry you had a rough one. Hope the new week will bring more sunshine and a bit of cheerfulness.
Aww, glad you liked it :) Around 3 a.m. is when I figure you're starting your day, so when I'm still up at that hour, I always start thinking about you :)
I also love this idea for a post...may have to steal it...
My favorite things this weekend were having friends stay with us Friday night and Scott not making me go to the grocery on Saturday. Of course, now we have no food in the house, but I didn't have to go to the grocery! That's something to celebrate!
wow. did i REALLY spell nose KNOWS?? wow . . . . wow. p.s. my word verification is iamaphoey. how ironic.
I finally turned the corner Friday morning and started to actually feel more like normal after being ill x 1 wk.
Had some family and friends over Saturday afternoon for homemade ice cream (made by Jesse and Julie) and lots of good snacks.
Kevin and I watched a great movie ("Blind Side") with Jesse and Julie, and we enjoyed nachos made in the toaster oven.
Watched Renae ALL DAY Friday. Had her all to myself!!!!
It was a great weekend. Thanks, Kari for your post! Praying for you both to be lifted up.
best moment yesterday: coming home safely to Jozef after a short trip.
Du courage!
Any chance for that Southern gravy with chipolata sausages recipe? I'm a Texas girl (living in Provence) and have a huge craving for biscuits and gravy.
And my weekend high points... sleeping in on Saturday, watching Clermont win the rugby, and taking a long walk in the sun with my dog on Sunday. First spring like day :-)
The pre-dinner dialogue sounds awfully familiar to our pre-dinner dialogues. Funny!
