Hot and boiled...

Les Masson in May'retta, Georgia
On our way down/back up from Florida, I kept a list of the spelling variations on signs advertising the sale of arachis hypogaea that have been simmmered at about 212 °F until soft and smelly. Here it goes, y'all...

HOT BOILed P-NUTS

Boiled P-nuts

Sunset n°1

Hot PNUTS

Hot Boiled Peanuts

P-nuts FRESH BOILED ROASTED

Sunset n°5

Boiled Green P-NUTs

boiled p'nuts

And my personal fave: Hot boiled P-Nut. (Apparently this stand sold them one by one.)
Last night. I love the kite.
Doing a little mental boat shopping.

And now that we have finally been able to give Jonathan the full Florida beach vacation experience, I'm feeling brave. Tomorrow Stephen and Beth (true locals) are going downtown with us to show Jonathan the city of Hotlanta, up close and personal.

Help us out if you've got ideas of things that are definite must-do or must-see!

Get a good meal to start off your day! Suggestions include Sun in My Belly, Ria's Bluebird Cafe or, of course, Flying Biscuit.

And we might be local, but we still love taking people to the Inside CNN tour and new World of Coke:)

Other local fun while the weather is still nice: visit King of Pops, walk the new Beltline (right behind our place!) or Piedmont Park, and catch a flick at the Starlight drive-in!

He will probably enjoy the World of Coke. I've never done the Inside CNN even though I've lived here since way before CNN. He has to see Stone Mountain. If he likes history The Atlanta History Center is a real treat, especially the Swan House and the Tulley Smith House. The grounds are beautiful and it's right in the heart of Buckhead. The Okay Cafe is a great place to eat (at the corner of Northside Parkway and West Paces Ferry Road, just off I-75, just south of The Church of the Apostles). Stately Oaks is in historical Jonesboro (my sweet hubby can give you a tour there as he is a volunteer docent)and Margaret Mitchell's apartment where she wrote "Gone With the Wind" is at the corner of 10th St., and Peachtree. If he wants to see the campus of a real school tootle on down 10th St. to GA Tech (lovingly known as the North Avenue Trade School locally). This Atlanta native could go on and on about things to see around here. BTW, my mom grew up in East Cobb County in a little place called Blackwell. I can even remember when Piedmont Rd. was dirt and Shallowford Rd. was a little narrow two-lane road.

My man reminded me you could tour Highland Hardware in the Virginia-Highlands area, that is if Jonathan is into tools. I'm sure everyone want to visit Highland Hardware, right?

Um..not sure if you'd be interested in this kind of thing or not seeing as how you've just left Europe, but there's a neat place called Cafe Intermezzo. I think they have over 100 different types of desserts/coffees... We had a great time when we went!

Okay - the peanut ads are HILARIOUS. And love the pictures. So glad (and jealous) that you get to explore Hotlanta with Stephen and Beth. Your must-see and must-do list....the craziness of Northern New Jersey, Jersey-style pizza, etc... :)
